A Day to Celebrate Our Parkfield Community

There’s something rather special about seeing Parkfield full of people.

Our recent May Open Day brought together young people, families, community groups, volunteers and organisations from across Torbay for a day that really showed what People’s Parkfield is all about: bringing people together, creating opportunities and giving our community a place to connect, take part and have fun.

And now we have a wonderful video capturing some of it.

Filmed and created by John at Emberlense, the film gives a lovely snapshot of the people, activities and energy that filled Parkfield on the day. From wheels on the skatepark and BMX track to conversations, activities and people discovering more about the groups who call Parkfield home, it was brilliant to see so many different parts of our community coming together in one place.

Parkfield is all about people

Days like this don’t happen because of one organisation or one person. They happen because lots of people give their time, enthusiasm and support to make them work.

A huge thank you goes to the People’s Parkfield House users who took part and helped make the day what it was, including The Children’s Society, 7th Paignton Brownies and Guides, Taleblazers and the Parkfield History Group.

We’d also like to thank Safe, Sustainable Travel Torbay, YMCA South Devon, Sound Communities, Preston Community Partnership, Megan Kirby and her team of BMX coaches, and Hannah and the Food Growing Lab team for supporting the day and helping to bring such a varied mix of activities and experiences to Parkfield.

And a particularly big thank you has to go to our skate crew, who coordinated and ran the Skate Jam so brilliantly. Their hard work, enthusiasm and energy made it a real highlight of the day.

Thank you for being part of it

Whether you came along, helped behind the scenes, ran an activity, supported one of the organisations involved or simply stopped by to see what was happening, thank you.

Events like this are a lovely reminder of what can happen when a community has a space to come together.

We hope the film brings back a few memories for those who were there and gives anyone who hasn’t yet visited Parkfield a little glimpse of what goes on here.
