Nature & Food Growing

Creating a Safe Green Space for All to Enjoy

Creating a safe green space for all to enjoy

At Parkfield House, we take immense pride in our rich history of cultivating both beautiful and edible plants.

From the days of flat pole cabbages to our charming walled kitchen garden and the nursery greenhouses that once supplied Paignton’s stunning displays, our grounds have always been a source of inspiration and nourishment.

In our grounds, we will use the wealth of knowledge of local experts to manage the gardens, lawns, woodlands and stream, reducing impact on wildlife, encourage native species to flourish, reduce the impact of flooding, and to demonstrate effective food production throughout the grounds of Parkfield House.

Our Mission

At People’s Parkfield, we're passionate about continuing this legacy by promoting sustainable food growing practices and fostering a deep connection with nature.

Our goal is to empower local families to grow their own fruit and vegetables, creating a diverse and resilient harvest to support our community through the challenges of climate change.

Community Gardens

Our community gardens are open to everyone, providing a welcoming space where you can learn about sustainable gardening. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, you’ll find the support and resources you need to grow your own produce.

Workshops and Training

Join our workshops and training sessions on organic gardening, permaculture, and seasonal planting. These hands-on sessions are designed to give you the knowledge and skills to cultivate a thriving garden at home.

Collaborations with Local Experts

We work with local horticulturists and environmental experts to ensure our gardening practices are both eco-friendly and effective. Together, we manage our gardens, lawns, woodlands, and streams in ways that reduce the impact on wildlife and encourage native species to flourish.

Demonstration Plots

Our demonstration plots are living examples of innovative and sustainable food production techniques. Come and see how we grow a variety of fruits and vegetables efficiently and sustainably.

Our Vision for the Future

We see Parkfield House as a vibrant hub for nature and food growing, where the community comes together to share knowledge, enjoy the beauty of our gardens, and contribute to a more sustainable future. By fostering a strong connection with the land, we aim to enhance food security, promote well-being, and build resilience against climate change.
