Community Driven Partnerships
Organisations Making a Difference
We have welcomed a number of fantastic organisations who are driven to provide essential services for children, young people, and the Paignton community.
At Parkfield House, we’re proud to host a diverse community of organisations and businesses dedicated to making a positive impact in Paignton and beyond.
From local enterprises to social initiatives, here are some of the organisations that call Parkfield home:

Our Community Partners
People’s Parkfield CIC: Leading the charge in revitalising Parkfield House and Gardens, creating a hub for community engagement and sustainable initiatives.

Local Spark
We’re a small but mighty CIC working to develop a healthy and inclusive economy across Torbay. We do this by:
- Supporting local people to set up and run businesses for good, such as social enterprises and co-ops. This can be for folks who have a good idea they’d like to develop. We also support existing businesses to grow and be more resilient.
- Organising the Torbay Social Enterprise Network which puts on events to share information and foster collaboration.
- Running Local Entrepreneur Forums – a bigger, community driven version of Dragon’s Den!
- Engaging with larger anchor institutions to unlock ways in which they can support and contribute to the social economy.
- We also support and promote the Social Economy Hub at People’s Parkfield. Would you like a co-working desk surrounded by like-minded people in this lovely building?

Our services include: bicycle maintenance workshops, social bike rides, bicycle donations and sales. Join the team at Parkfield House every Monday morning for Coffee and Cogs. Firebug Torbay
Hi! We’re Firebug Torbay CIC and at the moment there are just two of us: Anna (pronouns: she/her) and Finch (pronouns: they/them). We’re setting up our community greenwood workshop at People’s Parkfield. Our plan is to bring the joys of bodging to Torbay in this historic space that’s beautiful, inclusive and as accessible as we can make it.
What’s bodging? Otherwise known as greenwoodworking, we use freshly cut wood straight from the tree to make useful and lovely items using hand tools and human power only. Traditionally, coppice woodlands are managed sustainably to produce the wood we use. This tradition benefits wildlife as much as people. Techniques we will be exploring in our stable workshop include spoon-carving, whittling and pole-lathe turning. Firebug uses a mixture of wood from sustainably managed local coppice woods and donations from trees within Torbay that are being felled or pruned anyway by land managers.

Taleblazers
Taleblazers is a Community Interest Company that celebrates the stories of Devon and Dartmoor. We do this by researching tales from our region, rewriting them into original works and performing them as ballads or folk poems. Oral storytelling is an art we are passionate about preserving and we aim to engage young people in particular by involving them in writing and performance. We offer workshops in a variety of educational areas (heritage, natural history, ecology) to schools and historic sites and our workshops are tailored to locations to make them as relevant as possible to the groups we work with.

SEND Family Voice
We aim to use our collective voice for change by working co-productively with Torbay Council and other agencies to improve communication and remove barriers for the benefit of SEND families in Torbay. We are welcoming being part of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums, which brings together over 150 parent carer forums in England. Together, these local forums reach over 80,000 families.

Children’s Society - Checkpoint
We provide help to young people aged 8–18 across Devon, Torquay, Paignton, Plymouth and Brixham. We can speak to you on the phone, online or face to face. We can help you overcome the challenges that hold you back. Achieve the things that matter to you. Give you skills and strategies to help you move forward. Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time, we help hundreds of young people every year. If you need it, we are here.

Moor To Sea Music
Moor to Sea has a vision to create communities where power is shared, difference is valued and creativity, music and the arts are how we understand ourselves.

New Footings Ministries
We aim to provide a pathway through getting off the streets and into longer term accommodation and eventually allow these once homeless people to have a place they can call home.

Wren Music
Wren Music runs a Singing for Wellness group in our Lounge here at Parkfield every Thursday during the academic year. The group is for people with respiratory conditions, those suffering the effects of long covid, or anyone with impaired breathing.

7th Paignton Girlguiding
Parkfield House is the current home of the 7th Paignton Rainbows, Brownies, and the Guides. They meet every Monday evening during term time and offer an exciting range of activities for girls aged 4-14 years. Contact Zoe 07593 304623

We aim to share our love of nature all the way from running a baby Nature Nurtures group to, family forest school sessions, woodworking workshops and skill based sessions delving deeper into campfire cooking, the making of a good fire and nature guardianship suchas tree planting and hedge laying. We run groups during day time supporting families who home educate as well as family groups for after school, weekends and during holidays.
